Our hearts are broken this morning as we come to terms with the tragic crash that unfolded outside Bradley’s on 7th, one of Tampa’s most beloved LGBTQ+ gathering spots, early Saturday morning. The crash, which occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m., has left four people dead and eleven others injured, one critically. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the pain of this senseless loss is being felt deeply by everyone who calls Ybor City home.
According to official reports, a speeding vehicle, involved in a reckless driving incident on I-275, lost control and crashed into the patio area of Bradley’s on 7th. The force of the impact resulted in the immediate deaths of three victims, with a fourth succumbing to their injuries later at the hospital. Eleven others were injured, and the Florida Highway Patrol and Tampa Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Among those present at the time was Esme Russell, a beloved co-host known for her vibrant presence in Tampa’s LGBTQ+ community. Esme, along with many others, witnessed the chaos and terror of the crash but is thankfully unharmed. She expressed deep gratitude to the first responders and bystanders who rushed to help. “I’m shaken, but I am so thankful to be safe. I will carry the memory of those who were lost in my heart,” Esme shared.
Bradley’s on 7th has long been more than just a nightclub. For many, it is a sanctuary—a place of love, celebration, and chosen family.
